Your Autistic Life: The Ruminations of an Autistic Enby
This is my blog. I masked my autism for the first 50 years of my life. I discovered in March 2023 that I am, in fact, autistic. Prior to this time, my life was mostly okay, but did not make much sense overall. Since my self-diagnosis, my life makes much more sense.

Declaring One’s Autism Won’t Do Anything To Combat Police Ineptitude
I don’t think that declaring that one is autistic will change anything. I’ve seen lately a bunch of news articles talking about new rules whereby people who have behavioral disabilities, autism in particular, will be allowed to declare their disability so that the police can handle them properly. Before we go any further, let me…

You Don’t Understand Free Speech
I know my title is provocative. It is intentional. The law is one of my interests. At the same time, I’m not a lawyer. I’m merely better informed than the average American. Let me be clear that I’m going to talk about the right of free speech embodied in the Bill of Rights of the…

Invisible Minorities Are Vocal About Their Identities With Good Reason
It is because the majority tends to forget that these invisible minorities exist. I recently came across a “bash the vegan” joke that got me thinking about the issue at hand here. I’m paraphrasing, but the joke was: The toughest part of being a vegan is keeping it to yourself. I think there are several…

No, I Don’t Need Your Expensive Hi-Fi, Your Vinyl, Your Coffee
Aficionados won’t like me, but I don’t need the expensive stuff that they peddle. By all means, enjoy what you enjoy, but don’t start peddling your stuff to me. Oftentimes, your stuff is not even objectively better, that is, if you don’t willfully ignore the studies that disprove your position. However, even the notion of…

When Famotidine Messes With Your Head
I think my anti-reflux medicine is messing up my head. Preamble: I wrote this piece in August 2022, right when I was dealing with the depression that was caused by my famotidine. I decided to do minimal edits before publishing it here. In particular, I did not adjust the chronology. I did not know I…

The Fediverse Is A Countercultural Garden

Had I been born earlier, I’d be a beatnik or a hippie… I was cogitating about how to convince someone to give a shot at getting into the fediverse. My first thought went along like this: The fediverse is a decentr… And then I stopped myself. It does not matter how true what I was…

Feeld: Still Not Great
Feeld being the least awful of an awful bunch does not count for much. I used to pay for Feeld, but the changes they made in this application put me off, and I stopped paying, for about a year. I recently resubscribed, and what I discovered is not pretty. Now, I’ll be frank. All the…

Taimi: The Unserious Dating App for Unserious Folks
If it walks like a duck, and it looks like a duck… … sometimes it is indeed a duck, but sometimes it is a skunk cosplaying as a duck. Taimi is the latter. Taimi stinks, it already stank, but now it stinks even more. It brands itself LGBTQ+ Dating and Chat. However, Taimi is an…

Five Years In Remission
I entered remission five years ago on February 11th 2021. It’s been a wild ride, to say the least. Ultimately, everybody’s journey through cancer is their own. If you’re a cancer survivor too, your journey is not my journey, and my journey is not your journey, no matter how similar they may be. Some people…

Taimi: An LGBTQ+ Dating and Chat App
Taimi became my go-to dating app, but it did not last. All dating apps suck. All of them. Without exception. So, yes, Taimi sucks too. However, they don’t all suck to the same extent, and thus Taimi, for a brief period of time, became my preferred dating app, dethroning Feeld. Alas, this was not to…

Why I Prefer Delta Chat To Signal
I find Delta Chat support for multiple profiles to be a killer feature. I have Delta Chat and Signal installed on my phone and my laptop. I’ve used both platforms to talk to various people. They both work fine. However, I do prefer Delta Chat because I do find it more flexible than Signal. I’m…
