Your Autistic Life: The Ruminations of an Autistic Enby

This is my blog. I masked my autism for the first 50 years of my life. I discovered in March 2023 that I am, in fact, autistic. Prior to this time, my life was mostly okay, but did not make much sense overall. Since my self-diagnosis, my life makes much more sense.

  • The Examined Life

The discovery of my neurodivergence has been a blessing in disguise, for, together with other crises, it forced me to examine my life. I know for a fact that some people won’t accept that neurodivergence is a blessing at all. These folks sometimes wish that they would be able to do away with their own…

  • Why Do Autistic People “Make A Scene?”

Because you don’t bloody listen. Going to events can be challenging when you are autistic. It is definitely challenging for me. I have noise sensitivity and social anxiety. I’ve recently learned that I’m liable to crash if I’m overstimulated during a social event. Fun! I’m going to talk about a specific event here. It is…

  • Am I The Asshole?

This is a question that I ask myself often, probably because of the trauma I suffered. I believe this concern about whether I am an asshole comes from innumerable times when I was unjustly labeled an asshole. Over time, I internalized the accusers’ voices, and now I ask myself whether I am, in fact, an…

  • The Problem With Your Answers To My Questions

When I complain about a product, your answer to just stop using it stinks, very badly. Once in a while, I run into problems with this or that product. Sometimes, when I cannot find a solution, I post my issue to the fediverse, hoping someone will have the answer. A lot of people don’t respond.…

  • ActuallyAutistic Is For Both Formally Diagnosed People And Self-Diagnosed People

People have recently suggested other hashtags and group names in the fediverse. This will only compound the problem. If there is one thing that us autistic people do not like, it is allistic (i.e. non-autistic) people talking for us. At the same time, it does make sense for people who have to care for autistic…

  • Walmart Is Ableist

If you are neurodivergent and prefer to use self-checkout, well, screw you! See, Walmart has been implementing policies about the use of self-checkout. • What Is Stimming?

Stimming is a way to bring order to our nervous system. The explanation I’m going to give you here is that of a layman trying to understand himself. I am not a psychologist, or a psychiatrist. • Cheaters Gotta Cheat

Someone just asked me to cheat on a tutoring platform. I’ve reported them. Yep, cheaters gotta cheat. Don’t you know? Here’s what happened. Someone posted a job offer for tutoring. • A Small Reorganization

I’m splitting my YouTube channels, and I’m no longer announcing my activity to those channels here. I used to post here whenever I made a new clip in @YourAutisticLife. Going forward, I’m no longer doing this. I will probably delete the old posts at some point. I’ve also split off the music playlists that were…
