Your Autistic Life: The Ruminations of an Autistic Enby
This is my blog. I masked my autism for the first 50 years of my life. I discovered in March 2023 that I am, in fact, autistic. Prior to this time, my life was mostly okay, but did not make much sense overall. Since my self-diagnosis, my life makes much more sense.

Flipboard: An Ableist Platform

I don’t recommend it for anyone, and especially not for people with mental health conditions. I don’t watch the news on the television anymore. Rather than do this, I used to use Google News. I did this for a long time. It was my main source of news. I tried using the fediverse for this,…

YouTube Channels Peddling Nonsense
I’ve noticed a few of those lately. I find this practice shameful. Do read the entire article. I swear it is all linked together. I’d say the second part is more important than the first, because I think more people have misconceptions about data deletion, but the first part provides some background. Titles Of Nobility…

Declaring One’s Autism Won’t Do Anything To Combat Police Ineptitude
I don’t think that declaring that one is autistic will change anything. I’ve seen lately a bunch of news articles talking about new rules whereby people who have behavioral disabilities, autism in particular, will be allowed to declare their disability so that the police can handle them properly. Before we go any further, let me…

How My Sleep Specialists Screwed Me
Good news: I solved my insomnia problem. Bad news: my sleep specialists screwed me. This article was originally published elsewhere in November 2022. I’m republishing it here with minimal editing. I’ll note that my insomnia problem is not fully fixed. It is definitely better. I now sleep five to height hours per night instead of…

Neurodivergence And Spirituality
Is it possible that neurodivergent people experience spirituality differently than neurotypical folks? The answer is obvious. Yes, we experience spirituality differently than neurotypical folks. Why should spirituality be any different from the other realms of existence? I’ll remind you that I used to think that we perceive the world in more or less the same…

Adversity Does Not Make You Stronger
The reality of it is much more complex than what the saying would have you believe. Adversity has visited me often. So much so, that by all rights, if the saying were true, I’d be Superman by now. Alas, I’m no Superman. Adversity nearly killed me. Adversity has had a beneficial effect on me, but…

My Conditions Are Not Moral Failings
It is really hard to abandon the idea that conditions are moral failings when society at large bleats that they are. Tie your hat down. This is going to be a longish article. I’m going to highlight some ways in which doctors and the general population hold onto an obsolete model of our somatic and…

My Life As A Porcelain Dog: Part 2
In what follows, I am going to describe what it means to be someone’s porcelain dog. This article is for paying subscribers only, for a number of reasons. One is that I’m going to go into very intimate details of my life. Another one is that I don’t want the persons I talk about here…

Stop Minimizing People’s Problems
This is another one of those moves that can easily end up being ableist as fuck. I recently posted a message in the fediverse pointing out that the COVID-19 tests provided by www.test2treat.org have the worst packaging ever that I’ve seen in any testing kit. I can fit four Flowflex kits, four tests, in about…

Invisible Minorities Are Vocal About Their Identities With Good Reason
It is because the majority tends to forget that these invisible minorities exist. I recently came across a “bash the vegan” joke that got me thinking about the issue at hand here. I’m paraphrasing, but the joke was: The toughest part of being a vegan is keeping it to yourself. I think there are several…

An Autistic Reading Of The Rifle’s Spiral
My take on a few lines of The Rifle’s Spiral by The Shins. This music video came into my orbit before I knew that I was autistic. However, there are a few lines in there that have always captured my imagination. I’ve had other neurodivergent people listen to this piece, and they also latched onto…
