Your Autistic Life: The Ruminations of an Autistic Enby

This is my blog. I masked my autism for the first 50 years of my life. I discovered in March 2023 that I am, in fact, autistic. Prior to this time, my life was mostly okay, but did not make much sense overall. Since my self-diagnosis, my life makes much more sense.

Editorials:

  • The Conservatives Justices Part of SCOTUS are Sophomoric Idiots

Yep, we’re fucked. I chose my words carefully with that title. Their “reasoning” for the decision granting absolute powers to presidents is equivalent to the work of a confused college sophomore. I knew right away that this decision couldn’t be good for us, but I decided to hold my tongue for a while. I have…

  • If I Were A Billionaire

I’d be helping my fellow human beings here and now. A billion dollars does isolate you from having to worry about your future, right? I sure hope so. At least that’s how I imagine it. If I’m wrong about this, you can try to convince me, but you’re going to have to bring up your…

  • I No Longer Recommend Feeld

The powers that be killed the golden goose. If you’ve already read this article, please read the updates at the bottom. They are eye-opening. I’ve complained about the state of Feeld before. Namely, in this article: Well… it’s gone from bad to worse. Feeld used to be the application I’d recommend for the gender and…

  • Kava: An Antianxiety Herb

I drink kava pretty much daily, because I like its effects. What is kava? It is a herb that grows naturally in the Pacific Islands. People there have been grinding its root for centuries to make drinks out of it. Eventually, it came to the West. No, I’m not going to give you the full…

  • Those Disclaimers You Add To Your Social Media Profiles Do Exactly Nothing

These disclaimers may be popular, but they are usually ineffective. Sometimes I see someone who will proudly proclaim to the world that they solved some perceived problem with what a social media platform is going by adding some verbiage to their public profile on that platform. For instance, someone on Facebook might add “I do…

  • Stop Minimizing People’s Problems

This is another one of those moves that can easily end up being ableist as fuck. I recently posted a message in the fediverse pointing out that the COVID-19 tests provided by www.test2treat.org have the worst packaging ever that I’ve seen in any testing kit. I can fit four Flowflex kits, four tests, in about…

  • My Policy About Boosting Fediverse Posts

My boosting behavior mostly reflects my desire to have a tidy timeline. I like a tidy timeline devoid of tons of stuff that I won’t want to read. I also think that I cannot hold others to a high standard of discrimination in boosting, if I don’t hold myself to that very same standard. It…

  • These Simple Rules Will Save You From A Ton Of Dating Scams

I’ve devised a few simple rules that saved me from scammers. I’m an autistic man. A lot of us, myself included, are people pleasers. This can be a boon, but it can also be a curse. It is a boon in that it can make relationships fabulous. However, that’s assuming the relationship is not abusive.…

  • Do Not Condemn Your Child To A Life Of Confusion

If your child gets an autism diagnosis, do tell them about it! To do otherwise is a Faustian bargain. Actually, my advice goes for any mental condition. It can be autism, schizophrenia, general anxiety disorders, etc. In this article, I’ll talk only about autism because that the condition that affects me the most, and I…

  • At 50 I’m Realizing I’m Not Made To Live Alone

Most of the time, these days, I live alone. My mental health is suffering from it. I initially wrote this article in March 2023. I’m republishing it here with minimal edits. I’ll provide an update at the end. This is a realization that came to me only very recently… during the past few weeks, actually. I…

  • Asking People To Verify Their Identity On The Dating Apps Does Not Work!

Even if your match verifies their identity, you cannot be sure. It furthermore marks you as a scammer! Yes, yes, I know. You’ve watched Tinder Swindler and vowed never to get catfished. Good for you. No, really. I mean it! Good for you. That’s the right attitude to have. There are scammers on the dating…

  • Trans Kids Shouldn’t Have To Hide Who They Are From Their Parents

I’m sorry to report that most parents fail horribly in this matter. Recently, a trans kid was asking how to buy binders without their parents knowing about it. This request saddened me. No, not because the kid is trans. I am saddened because, as is usually the case with trans kids, the parents are not…

  • An Autistic Reading Of The Rifle’s Spiral

My take on a few lines of The Rifle’s Spiral by The Shins. This music video came into my orbit before I knew that I was autistic. However, there are a few lines in there that have always captured my imagination. I’ve had other neurodivergent people listen to this piece, and they also latched onto…
