Your Autistic Life: The Ruminations of an Autistic Enby

This is my blog. I masked my autism for the first 50 years of my life. I discovered in March 2023 that I am, in fact, autistic. Prior to this time, my life was mostly okay, but did not make much sense overall. Since my self-diagnosis, my life makes much more sense.

  • The Examined Life

The discovery of my neurodivergence has been a blessing in disguise, for, together with other crises, it forced me to examine my life. I know for a fact that some people won’t accept that neurodivergence is a blessing at all. These folks sometimes wish that they would be able to do away with their own…

  • Why Do Autistic People “Make A Scene?”

Because you don’t bloody listen. Going to events can be challenging when you are autistic. It is definitely challenging for me. I have noise sensitivity and social anxiety. I’ve recently learned that I’m liable to crash if I’m overstimulated during a social event. Fun! I’m going to talk about a specific event here. It is…

  • My Autistic Life: The Realization

I’m just realizing at the age of 50 that I’m autistic, and I’m now looking again at earlier events in my life with a new perspective. It is only since March 2023 that I’ve seriously entertained the notion that I’m autistic. Earlier in life, there were some moments where I thought I might be, but…

  • Stop Minimizing People’s Problems

This is another one of those moves that can easily end up being ableist as fuck. I recently posted a message in the fediverse pointing out that the COVID-19 tests provided by www.test2treat.org have the worst packaging ever that I’ve seen in any testing kit. I can fit four Flowflex kits, four tests, in about…

  • If You Can’t Muster Empathy, Shut Up!

I’ve recently gotten a very shitty response to a vent of mine. I decided to vent into the fediverse with this message: This was just a vent. I’m mildly annoyed, but not angry. I did not berate them for their silence. I’m just venting in the fediverse. This is it. I’ve been on the dating…

More reflections on my experience with famotidine. Preamble: I wrote this piece in August 2022, about six days after my previous piece on famotidine. • Neurodivergence And Spirituality

Is it possible that neurodivergent people experience spirituality differently than neurotypical folks? The answer is obvious. Yes, we experience spirituality differently than neurotypical folks. Why should spirituality be any different from the other realms of existence? I’ll remind you that I used to think that we perceive the world in more or less the same…

  • Feeld’s Moderation Wasn’t Great, But It Is Now Nonexistent

Feeld’s moderation was never great, but it is now nonexistent. I’ll explain how I came to this conclusion in this article. It really hurts me to say this, because I think that Feeld is the best platform for people who are part of the gender and sexual minorities (GSM). I am part of several of…

  • On Silver Linings And Cancer

It may take some time before you see the silver linings. Is cancer able to provide someone with silver linings? Yes, it is able to do just that. However, it is also possible that no silver linings will emerge. Moreover, these silver linings may not become evident for some time after treatment. It took about…

I think my anti-reflux medicine is messing up my head. Preamble: I wrote this piece in August 2022, right when I was dealing with the depression that was caused by my famotidine. • Stimming Is Life 002

A playlist for those who like to stim to music. One thing I found that 120 beats per minute (BPM) may be close to my limit when I walk. I may have songs that go above this limit, but if they are too fast, then I just hand-dance and forget about walk-dancing. If you want…

  • Stimming Is Life 001

A playlist for those who like to stim to music. I’m a late-diagnosed autistic, and yes I did self-diagnose. For the longest time I was able to mask, but my cancer lessened my ability. Yet, if I look back at my life, I was stimming years before my cancer. One form of stimming for me…
